Superintendent Gives Task Force Update

Superintendent Gives Task Force Update

Dear Lakewood Community,

I recently shared a parent and community update regarding the work of the Elementary Facilities Task Force and our anticipated next steps, including the expected presentation of the Task Force Report during my Superintendent’s update to the Board at the June 16 Board of Education meeting. I am writing now to inform you that a Task Force update will not be shared at the June 16 meeting, as previously planned.

While subsequent updates regarding the Task Force will follow at a later date, I want to emphasize that I genuinely appreciate the efforts of the Task Force members and value the voices of our community. The work to explore the repurposing of a building or the potential redistricting of elementary schools has always been and remains grounded in a sincere commitment to engagement, transparency, and collaboration, through a thoughtful process intended to ensure broad representation and community input.

As I shared in my recent communication, the work of the Task Force is a powerful example of a community coming together in support of public education. I remain deeply grateful for your time, thoughtfulness, and commitment. Please know that the District’s focus remains unchanged: to act in the best interests of Lakewood’s students and to ensure our community continues to have a meaningful voice in shaping the future of our schools.

Sincerely,

Maggie Niedzwiecki
Superintendent, Lakewood City Schools
