Morgan Named New Student Services Director

The Lakewood Board of Education at its March 3 meeting approved Stephanie Morgan as the District's new director of Student Services, effective Aug. 1, 2025. Morgan replaces Lisa Bruening, who is retiring.

Morgan brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in student services administration, boasting 17 years of expertise in the field. Her most recent role at Brunswick City School District saw her overseeing a comprehensive range of programs, including those for students with disabilities, English learners, and students experiencing homelessness.

During her tenure at Brunswick, Morgan managed federal grants and department budgets, established compliance procedures and supervised PK-12 enrollment and special needs services.

Prior to her time at Brunswick, Morgan served as the director of Student Services at Westlake City Schools for 14 years. Her extensive experience also includes roles as a special education coordinator in Barberton and as a school psychologist and intervention coach for the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District.

Throughout her career, Morgan has remained deeply committed to advocating for students and supporting their diverse needs.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Morgan to the Lakewood City Schools family," said Lakewood’s Human Resources director, Jeff Schlade. "Her extensive experience and dedication to student services will be invaluable as we continue to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all our students."

Dr. Morgan holds an undergraduate degree from John Carroll University, a master’s in Educational Administration from Kent State University, and a professional doctorate from Youngstown State University.
