Board OKs Aber as Next HR Director

Aber joined Lakewood City Schools as Roosevelt’s principal in 2019 after serving as an elementary principal in the Willoughby Eastlake City Schools and an assistant principal in the Madison Local School District.

Aber was the first Lakewood elementary school principal to bring the concept of the Ron Clark Academy House System to the District and align it with Roosevelt’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. The implementation in 2020 of the Harry Potter-style house program transformed the culture of the school and the Roosevelt school community. The system has been so successful at Roosevelt that the remaining six elementary schools and one middle school in the District have since implemented the program as well.

Aber has been an active member of key District leadership committees, including the District Leadership Team, the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee, and ELA Curriculum Adoption and Math Intervention committees.

Earlier in her career, Aber served as assistant principal at Madison Middle School and was a Math and Language Arts teacher in the Madison Local and Highland Local school districts.

Aber is eager to take on her new role: "I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our district in this new role,” Aber said. “My years as a principal have reinforced how important strong relationships, supportive leadership, and clear systems are to helping both students and staff thrive. I’m excited to continue supporting our schools, collaborating with colleagues across the district, and building on the great work already happening in Lakewood.”

Aber has a superintendent’s license earned through Cleveland State University. She earned a master’s in Educational Administration from Youngstown State and a bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education from Ohio University.
