Schoolpool

walking students

Looking for help getting your student to and from school or want to find them a buddy to commute to school with? We are pleased to partner with the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) and GoOhio Commute to implement Schoolpool, a free federal program to make it easier to get to school. The Schoolpool program helps families connect with other families to drive, walk or bike to school together!

Signing up is simple!

Contact the Schoolpool liaison at your school building (see list below) to receive a building-specific link to access Schoolpool and create an account.  Your liaison will send you a private link to register for Schoolpool. Click the link, create a free Gohio Commute account, and select your school to complete your household profile. Once registered, you’ll be able to see and connect with other families.

Pro tip: Add comments to indicate interest such as  “student is in after-school activities,” or “looking for a walk buddy in the mornings.”

FAQs

Q: Do I have to put my child’s personal information on the platform?
A: No. Only your name is required. You may choose to use a child’s nickname or a generic label like “Child 1” instead of their real name.

Q: What if I don’t want my home address visible?
A: You can enter a nearby intersection instead of your home address to maintain privacy.

Q: Can I use Schoolpool for walking or biking groups?
A: Yes. The platform supports organizing walking school buses and bike trains, as well as carpools. Once connected, families can make arrangements that work for them.

Q: Will I see every family in the school district?
A: No. The system filters matches to show the most relevant results—families within a reasonable distance from your location.

Q: Who do I contact if I have problems with the platform?
A: You can contact your school’s liaison for assistance or reach out to NOACA’s Schoolpool coordinator, Ashleigh Dennis, at 216-241-2414 ext. 399 or gohiocommute@mpo.noaca.org.

Q: Can I access Schoolpool on my phone?
A: Yes. Download the free Gohio Commute app to view and update your SchoolPool information anytime.

Q: What if my household does not have an email address?
A: Your school can assist you in registering and can share your contact information in other ways so you can still participate.

Q: I can’t see the School tab in my dashboard. Why?
A: You will not see the School tab until you click the private registration link for your school. Your school will send you this link directly.

Q: Is the site secure?
A: The platform is designed so only parents/guardians have access to Schoolpool information. If you think your private link has been shared with someone who shouldnot have access, please notify your school’s administration immediately.
