Dear Parents,

May is off to a great start! The students have written beautiful poems in Writer's Workshop.  We are excited for our Mother's Tea on Thursday, May 9th at 2:30.  Please bring two tea cups. We are finishing  Module 7 in Math and will begin Module 8 which is time, shapes, and fractions as equal parts.  We will finish the "d" syllable in Fundations, and learn the last syllable type: -le syllable.    Please continue to have your child read for 15 minutes every night and write in his/her Reading log. Even though we only have a few weeks left, please realize I have many new concepts/skill to teach. May 16th is our last LRC book selection for the year. The author visit is on Monday May 6th. Mrs. Cernanic has been reading her books to us during library time. We will walk to Lakewood Public Library on Tuesday, May 14th for the summer reading program, and Menchies. The students love this day! Permission slips will be coming home soon. May 23rd we will go to The Rocky River Nature Center, the 24th we will go to the Art Museum and Natural History Museum. You are welcome to attend any of the field trips. Track and Field day is Tuesday, May 28th at Kauffman Park.  A packed lunch is needed for the 23rd, 24th, 28th, and 29th.  Lastly, we will walk to Lakewood Park to enjoy the beautiful waterfront and have lunch on Wednesday, May 29th. If it rains that day we'll just have lunch bunch in the classroom. This is four field trips, four days in a row, but it will be a lot of fun!! We will celebrate summer birthdays too.  I will send individual notes.  I have loved being your child's teacher this year! Please encourage your child to read daily, go on my home page for the learning games (Zearn, Happy Numbers, Raz-Kids), and attend/participate in the summer reading program at the library.

Have a wonderful safe summer!
