October Newsletter

Dear Parents,

October is off to a very busy start!!  The students continue to work hard daily.   We are working on less talking during transition times, waiting our turn to talk, solving small problems, keeping out hands to ourselves, and being Lincoln Leaders.  Reading Block is off and running smoothly.  The students are working in a small group at their reading level with a teacher daily for 45 minutes.   The first three Fundations packet have been sent home. The "marking"  page is the most important.  The students will start working on Raz-Kids and are working on BrainPop, and Zearn. Raz-Kids, they listen to and read a story, then answer comprehension questions. It is at your child's level and a lot of non-fiction. They are suppose to be reading 50% non-fiction. We are working on our Narrative writing unit, and their personal stories. They have done a fantastic job on them.  We will start a non-fiction Reading and Writing unit next.    We will start unit three in Math tomorrow. It includes place value, counting, and comparison of numbers to 1,000.  Please use the daily Problem Set as a guide to your child's math homework. I will send home Module three newsletter.

We will be dressing up for Halloween this year and will have a parade. I will have more details later.

LRC day is Thursday, please remind your child to return his/her books weekly. The students are now taking home one book of their choice and level. The other book is staying in the classroom and it is their independent level.

Our classroom needs a room parent.  Your responsibility is to help plan the Halloween and Valentine's Day parties. I like to do centers (craft, snack, game) for the students. Please let me know if you are interested.

I continue to enjoy the students very much!  Their personalities are shining through more each day!:)

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wise
