Our Math program is Eureka Math. I will always send home the parent letter, which I feel is very helpful. It includes the vocabulary that I will be teaching. The students must show their thinking. R-D-W; Read, Draw or Write. They are allowed to show their thinking any way. The nightly homework will always be the skill I taught that day. When I give them a test, there will be no homework that night.
This quarter students will: use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems; fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies; fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; estimate and measure the length of objects using different units; represent whole numbers as lengths on a number line diagram; represent sums and differences within 100 on a number line diagram; and understand place value to the hundreds.
