Information and Data Privacy

As a district, we wish to be transparent in how we handle and manage information and data on the internet. We also wish to share what processes are in place to protect student and educator data while using school provided accounts.

With the implementation of G Suite for Education (Google Accounts), the district relies on Google's commitment to products that help protect student and teacher privacy.  G Suite for Education provides a distinct Privacy and Security agreement that differs from personal Google accounts. 1:1 Technology Initiative

The below information is in regards to the Lakewood City Schools distribution of devices.

In the 2020-2021 school year, all Lakewood City Schools students in first grade through twelfth grade received a District-issued 1:1 Chromebook. These Chromebooks are issued in four-year cycles. Students keep these Chromebooks in their possession throughout the year including breaks and the summer months. Students will have to turn these devices into the school district upon withdrawal.

Also beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, all prekindergarten and kindergarten students  are issued a device for use during the school year. These devices will be housed inside of their classrooms and if remote learning is required will be able to travel home with the student.
