The Office of the Assistant Superintendent has an exciting lead role in numerous district-level initiatives. These include facilitation of the Ohio improvement Process. This involves facilitation of our District Leadership Steering team and our District Leadership Team, which leads the work around our Vision of a Lakewood Graduate and Vision of a Lakewood Educator.
Areas of focus also include :
- Onboarding our newly hired classified staff
- Meeting regularly with our elementary principal group, our secondary principal group, and meeting monthly with all our principals.
- Communicating and collaborating with our Lakewood Teachers Association via multiple avenues including monthly collaboration meetings, monthly Communication Forum meetings, and regular as-needed communications.
Our office also provides oversight of our programming at Franklin School of Opportunity and West Shore Career-Technical District, which provides services to students from Rocky River, Bay Village and Westlake along with our Lakewood City Schools students.
Dr. Palumbo's Bio
While not a native of Lakewood, I started teaching in Lakewood in 1992, first at Roosevelt Elementary and then at Harrison. I have spent 25 of my 30 years in education in Lakewood teaching, coaching and serving in a variety of administrative roles. Now as Assistant Superintendent, I am so enthusiastic about and inspired by our Vision of a Lakewood Graduate as well as our Vision of a Lakewood Educator. I love getting into classrooms and supporting the work our teachers are doing with our students.
My husband, four stepchildren and two of my grandchildren are all Lakewood High School graduates. I have two grandchildren currently at LHS. My husband also coaches at LHS so to say that Lakewood City Schools plays an enormous role in my life is actually an understatement. To say that I LOVE Lakewood City Schools and LOVE my job is also an understatement. Words cannot convey the appreciation that I have for this community, this school district and its students and staff. I am grateful beyond words for what Lakewood has taught me and has helped me to become.
