Congratulations to Harrison fifth grader Kiera McCarroll on being named the 2025 Junior Fire Chief! Kiera is Harrison's first junior fire chief since 1999! The junior chief earns the title by winning the annual essay contest on Fire Prevention Week's theme, which this year is "Charge Into Fire Safety," about the dangers of lithium batteries. As is tradition, Kiera arrived at school today in the front seat of a Lakewood Fire Department truck with the school's students and staff there to greet and cheer her on. Well done, Ana!

Upcoming Events

Our Mission

In partnership with our families and  community, Lakewood City Schools will develop responsible citizens, who are critical and creative thinkers, committed to life-long learning, invested in a diverse  society, and prepared for technological and global opportunities.

Vision of a Lakewood Ranger

In this space we will highlight periodically the ways our Vision of a Lakewood Ranger comes alive in our classrooms and in the many enrichment activities our students enjoy.

Global Citizenship/Awareness

trout release

Our high school AP Environmental students recently released over 100 young rainbow trout into the Rocky River, marking the next chapter of the trouts' lives as they make their way to Lake Erie.  From testing the Rocky River water for safety before release to the release itself, teacher Rita Chahda-Gonzalez says the students were deeply involved every step of the way.  They've nurtured these trout since they received them as mere eggs from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in January.

Collaboration

students in cafe

Students in the West Shore Career-Tech Transition to Work program and some of the Lakewood High MILES students called on their collaboration, critical and creative thinking skills to open The Friendship Cafe for staff at Lakewood High School. The cafe, which serves coffee, tea and cocoa, is an amazing opportunity for students to learn and practice employable skills and conduct themselves in a professional manner. Whether operating the cash register or making the beverages, the students provided service with a smile!
