PROGRAM HONORS COUNTRY'S VETERANS FOR MEMORIAL DAY

Posted On: Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Students and guests at Harding Middle School heard first-hand about the significance of Memorial Day and the debt of gratitude owed to our country’s veterans as members of the military reminded all at the May 26 assembly that “freedom isn’t free.”

This was a common theme to the assembly, sponsored by Harding and H20, as the students, guest veterans and family observed a moving POW-MIA ceremony performed by the Lorain Southview Junior ROTC Honor Guard from Lorain and listened to keynote speaker Maynard “Doc” Unger recount his harrowing tale of capture as a POW in World War II.  It was a sobering reminder of the true meaning of Memorial Day and how much we all owe to our men in women in uniform.
