Thank you voters for passing the district's first operating levy in 8 years by an impressive margin of 60% to 40%. The vote reflects the high value that Lakewood places on maintaining excellent education in our public schools. Levy committee co-chair Mayor Ed FitzGerald summed it up nicely at the levy watch party on Tuesday evening at Emerson Elementary School when he said, "It's an incredible testament to how much people believe in this city ... and it's a vote of confidence in the management of the schools. It truly is an investment in the future of our city."

The passage of the levy will bring the district $6.2 million per year in new revenue that will go toward the day-to-day operating expenses of the district.  Official results will not be completed until all provisional and absentee ballots are counted.
