A team of Harding eighth graders put on an impressive display of knowledge as the team ran away with first place at the regional Classroom of Champions academic team competition held at St. Edward High School on Jan. 20. The team, comprised of Hugh Campbell, Max Mulready and Eli Zettler scored 745 points, the second team in only 21 years of competition to score more than 700 points. The team is all but assured to advance to the Finals, where the top three teams of 21 in the competition will vie for the title.

While answering questions in three different rounds on topics such as geography, history, literature, pop culture, science and religion, the Harding team quickly pulled away from their opponents, St. Ambrose of Brunswick and St. Mary of the Falls in Olmsted Falls, who scored 125 and 245 points respectively.

The team, which also includes alternates Luke DeBaltzo and Sarah Neff, has been practicing since September twice a week during lunch period under the guidance of advisers Mrs. Ginny Mazurak and
Mrs. Mary Kay Ryan. Practices will continue until the Finals at St. Ed's in April. With the team's dominating performance on Wednesday, it's fair to say they will be the team to beat.
