Superintendent Estrop and Mayor Ed FitzGerald joined Harding Middle School students and staff and the City of Lakewood’s Help To Others program in saluting our local veterans in the district’s second annual veteran recognition program.
The audience listened to various military speakers extol the virtues of freedom and reminded the young students as Memorial Day approaches the somtimes ultimate cost of fighting for that freedom. The keynote speaker was Capt. Patrick Hicks, an Army veteran of the Iraq War. The Lorain Southview High School Junior R.O.T.C. Honor Guard gave a moving POW/MIA presentation and the 8th grade band saluted the veterans with a medley of Armed Forces anthems.
