8th Graders Earn Awards in Virtual Mock Trial

In May, Mrs. Kreps had a team of four students compete virtually against Menlo Park Academy in the case of the State of Texas versus Warden Walker, a case based on the book Holes by Louis Sachar.  Because the Columbus trials were slated to happen a month into the remote learning phase of school this spring, several teams organized to hold trials virtually with a judge, bailiff, timer, and teams all gathering on Google Meets.  Congratulations are in order to Leah Campbell, who tied with a Menlo Park student for best attorney, and Ashley VanGunten, who won best witness in our trial.  Other participants who went above and beyond as well to contribute to our team on their own time are Reagan Bratko and Zoe Pace.  These 8th grade girls are fantastic lawyers and witnesses who really understand the foundation of the law through their study of Mock Trial.
