Garfield and Harding middle schools are very excited to work with Best Buy to reach our goal of improving student achievement in our schools.  It is a known fact that student achievement is directly associated with attendance at school. To improve student attendance and achievement at our schools, Garfield Middle School and Harding Middle School have partnered with Best Buy of North Olmsted to create a school-wide attendance incentive program.

Each academic quarter, Garfield and Harding will host a Best Buy team to celebrate students whose attendance has been exemplary throughout the quarter.  Best Buy employees will compete with staff teams in events like kickball, basketball, or volleyball to provide students with a fun-filled assembly to celebrate excellent attendance.  Each school will receive $500 per quarter from Best Buy and will be able to purchase incentive prizes such as iPods and iPads for students.  Students with excellent attendance will receive entries for the Best Buy prize and winners will be announced during the quarterly incentive assembly.

  • Attendance: 96-100% attendance rate per/quarter
  • Students can have two authorized absences per/quarter and still receive an entry into the drawing for the incentive prize.  Students with perfect attendance will receive two entries into the drawing for the incentive prize.

With help from Best Buy, Garfield and Harding are looking forward to increased attendance and increased student achievement in our schools.
