Dear Garfield Community,
This school year we are embarking on a new journey with some new faces. As a former Garfield teacher, I am well aware of the dedication the staff has to the students and the Lakewood community. It is my honor to serve as Principal and I am committed to upholding the high standards both Garfield and Lakewood have established.
With that, I would like to tell you all more about myself. I began my teaching career in Lakewood. I completed my student teaching at Harding Middle School where I fell in love with this district. I was a substitute and teaching assistant at Emerson Elementary and then began my full time teaching career at Garfield Middle School. I taught 7th grade taught science and social studies for four years. Last year, I took on the role of Assistant Principal at Harding Middle School where I enjoyed my time with students, staff and parents. Now, I am excited to begin this school year as Principal of Garfield, a place I was fortunate to call home for several years. Education is powerful and there is no better place to continue this journey than in this community.
Joining such a dedicated team is an honor. Together we are emboldened with a remarkable responsibility of educating children and nurturing their potential. We are committed to demonstrating the growth of our students as well-rounded learners both academically and socio-emotionally. We are all anticipating a positive return to a new year for our students. Although some faces have changed our mission to have students prepared for high school and the world beyond has stayed the same. Welcome back students and families! We are excited for the year ahead.
