Garfield Middle School families,

Welcome back!  We thank you for your support in getting this year started. As we embark on another adventure into academics, social-emotional learning, and all-around fun, we pride ourselves on being in a building with a dynamic staff, dedicated to developing well-rounded students. I am pleased to see our COVID guidelines being followed by staff and students as we work to ensure a safe full return for everyone.

I would like to welcome all of our new students and families to Garfield Middle School and welcome back our 7th and 8th graders and their families. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to all of our Garfield community who helped kick the school year off smoothly. Thank you to our wonderful PTSA and office staff who prepared all of the packets of information for families at New Student Orientation and joined us for Open House.

This kind of collaboration and team effort is so vital to student success as we strive for high academic achievement. The Garfield experience allows for students to explore musical and artistic interests, literacy, mathematics, science, history, clubs of various content, and empathetic human interactions.

This year we will amplify our Social Emotional Programs by implementing a R.E.S.E.T. program to teach students mindfulness and coping strategies while focusing on the academic improvement of each child. Our Academic Support system is in place and students will continue to receive services to increase academic success. Each day will be a new opportunity to make progress on our goals and to embrace the learning processes we will explore daily. We welcome the continued involvement of Garfield families and encourage parents, students, and staff to join our PTSA. Your support and kindness is greatly appreciated. A wonderful year is ahead and I look forward to continuing this journey with the Lakewood community.
