College credit is offered from three different systems offered in Ohio. West Shore is a member of the Northeast Tech Prep Regional partnership that offers Tech Prep College credit to West Shore students. Student scan apply for CT2 credit which is a statewide college credit system. Bilateral agreements are also available with private colleges or other program specific credit opportunities.
For Graduates who have Earned College Credit while in a West Shore Program:
In June after graduation, the West Shore Staff sends the appropriate paper work to the college indicated on the forms completed during the senior year. Credits are applied to the student’s college transcript either in August after graduation or after completion of one semester at the college. If the credits are not applied, contact the college’s enrollment center. Contact the West Shore office for assistance if unable to resolve any issues.
Tech Prep Credit:
Tech Prep credit is available through Tri-C, University of Akron and Kent State University. Students need to apply to the college. Once accepted, complete the Articulation Agreement. This agreement is sent to the college by the West Shore office. To Transfer these credits to another college, follow the college’s procedure.
CT2 College Credit:
College credit granted through the statewide agreements requires the student to attend the college where the credits are sent. Students need to apply to the college of their choice. If the college offers courses matching the CT2 earned at West Shore, credits will be applied to the student’s college transcript. In other words, a college will not accept CT 2 in culinary arts if they do not offer a culinary degree. The CT2 must be completed before graduation to assure ample time for the process to occur. West Shore will forward forms in June. Some colleges choose to apply these credits after the completion of one semester on their campus.
