Dear Roosevelt Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! Roosevelt is a special place with amazing students, families, and staff. We believe in instilling a sense of belonging, pride, and growth in every student.  If you are new to Roosevelt, welcome to the family! Please read on for important information for the start of the school year. 

Masks and COVID-19 Protocols: Please refer to the district’s homepage for updated COVID-19 protocols. To begin the year, all elementary students will be required to wear a mask while indoors, except when eating. 

School Supplies and What to Bring: Our school supply list is posted on our website. Students should always have two extra masks in their bookbags. Students will also need to bring a water bottle daily. Please label all of your child’s belongings. 

Important Dates: 

  • August 18:  Back to School Night for Grades 1-5 4:00-5:30pm 

    • Teacher assignments, supply dropoff, and popsicles with PTA on the playground

  • August 19: First Day of School for Grades 1-5

  • August 19, 20, 23: Kindergarten Screening (KDG parents please see enclosed letter)

  • August 24: First Day of School for Kindergarten Students

    • Families are invited to meet under the front overhang for a 9:00 “Kindergarten Clap-In”

  • September 1: Curriculum Night  

    • 6:00-6:45pm Last Names A-K, 6:45-7:30pm Last Names L-Z   

    • Families with more than one child should attend both sessions

    • Learn more about your child’s classroom in an information session with the teacher

  • September 14: First PTA Meeting 6:30pm Cafeteria

Registration Gateway & Communication:  

Please be sure to update your contact information and permissions through the Registration Gateway. School and district updates will continue to be sent regularly via email.  If you do not have internet access and need a hard copy of school communications, please let your child’s teacher know and we will be sure to send home hard copies.  Upon the start of school, your child will receive a purple folder containing many important flyers and forms. 

School Bell Schedule:

  • 8:30am  Students arrive for breakfast 

  • 8:45am Students go to classrooms

  • 9:00am Instruction Begins 

  • 3:05pm Students dismissed

Arrival:

  • Students arriving from 8:30-8:45 we will enter via the gym door.

  • Students arriving 8:45-9:00 can enter via the office door OR the playground door #10.

  • Students who are tardy must report to the office for a pass.                                                                                                                                  

Dismissal:

  • Please notify your child’s teacher of any dismissal changes. If you have a change in dismissal routine after the school day has begun, please call the office by 2:30pm to help us plan for a safe and efficient dismissal. 

  • Car riders will wait in the gym until called out to their car. Please use the green tag (to be provided in the purple first day folder) for easy car identification. For safety reasons, we will load students on the passenger side of the vehicle. If you will be exiting your car to buckle your child, we ask that you notify the staff member so he/she can have you pull all of the way forward before loading. 

  • Walkers will be dismissed from the following areas:

    • KDG-1st Door #10 to the back playground

    • 2nd-3rd Door #9 to the back playground

    • 4th-5th Door #11 by Lincoln Avenue

Breakfast and Lunch: Breakfast and lunch will be free for all enrolled students during the 2021-2022 school year. Menus can be found on the Lakewood City Schools website. Click on “Departments” and select “Nutrition Services”.

Medications: If your child needs medication administered during the school day, a parent should plan to bring in the medication and a completed authorization form on the first day of school. The form can be found on the Lakewood City Schools website. Click on “Forms” and select the appropriate form (for prescribed medication, EpiPen, and/or inhaler). For further information, please visit the district website, Click on “Departments” and select “Health Services” or contact our school office.
