Amy Sedlak is department facilitator for the Art Department. She teaches Art 2, Art 4 and Ceramics 1. Mrs. Sedlak has a BA from Cleveland State and was awarded the Certificate of Excellence by the College of Education at Cleveland State for outstanding performance in student teaching. In 2006-2007, she was awarded the Lakewood High School Teacher of the Year Award. Mrs. Sedlak believes strongly in blending art into the community. "Community involvement is a lifelong learning experience, and in art, I strive for my students to become involved and connected to the ctiy of Lakewood." Her students have contributed to beautifying Lakewood, from the mural at Beck Pool at Madison Park to the rain barrels at the community garden in Madison Park, the ceramic bench at LHS and the 9-11 Fallen Firefighters Memorial. Her most current student contribution to the City of Lakewood will be displayed at the Lakewood Park Bandstand this summer. Her current Ceramic 1 students are making colorful tiles that will be mounted to the base of the Bandstand.
