During the past few years, CHESSanity has donated chess sets and conducted free workshops to more than 60 schools in 30 school districts in Long Island, New Jersey and Ohio, which have benefited thousands of students around the US.

With Covid-19 disrupting students' after-school activities, CHESSanity is launching a series of FREE virtual chess lessons on each weekday, running from October 27, 2020 to December 14, 2020. As our mission is to promote chess, we welcome any students to sign up for our lessons, which are designed for absolute beginners who have none or limited exposure to chess. Yes, it's FREE

Course setup: The same content will be taught between 4:00pm-4:45pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, while workshops for that content will be conducted between 4:00pm-4:45pm on Friday and Monday the following week for practice. We've had the honor to have the top scholastic chess players from Long Island to join the faculty: Wesley Wang, Paris Prestia and Evelyn Zhu all hold National Master or higher titles.

Boys' Basketball UPDATE - If you are interested in playing boys' basketball for Lakewood High School this season, please fill out the attached form: https://forms.gle/AX1QawbVXQxvwZSXA

The Lakewood High School yearbook staff is already hard at work creating the 2021 Cinema.  Although it may look a little different from past yearbooks, we still plan to cover the year as best as we can.  Because of our current distance-learning situation, we are in need of pictures.  If you have any pictures from fall sports, band, cheerleading, clubs or anything else school-related we are asking you to share them with us.

In addition, we are planning a section on distance learning and need pictures from students and staff pictured in their distance-learning environment. Please help us out.  Email any pictures you would like to share to lhs.cinema.2021@gmail.com.

Wednesday September 23, 2020

Anyone in the cast or crew of "Twelfth Night" should plan to attend the read through this Friday, September 25 at 12:00 noon. Zoom link is in Google Classroom!  Classroom code is 7mxcesp
