Dear Freshman Parents/Guardians,
As we wrap up the first week of remote learning we have taken our fair share of minor bumps and bruises but nothing that we aren't going to get through quickly. We all here at LHS appreciate your patience, communication, and flexibility to get through this together! Our students and staff have done an amazing job to adapt and make the Zoom platform work, and it will only get better!
In an effort to help resolve some common issues that your child is having here is a statement from our Technology Department:
Technology repair times are every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Garfield Middle School, Harding Middle School and Lakewood High School. Fridays from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm technology support is located at Lakewood High School only. If parents/students are unable to make it to these times we have been working with them to accommodate their schedules.
Parents also have the ability of calling the Help Desk, emailing the Help Desk or submitting an online ticket to the Help Desk. This can all be located on the front page of the Family Hub under Technology Assistance.
If you are not aware, the District ordered 1,250 Chromebooks this past June that are set to be distributed to 1st graders, 5th graders, 6th graders, and 9th graders. These devices have not yet arrived in the District due to manufacturing and shipping delays due to Covid-19. Currently 1st grade students are using iPads while 5th graders, some 6th graders and 9th graders are using devices that were previously distributed in the District. These previously-used devices have experienced some bumps and bruises over their lifetime and do not operate as smoothly as the brand new devices we eagerly await to place in students' hands. Some of these devices no longer automatically update to the latest version of Google Chrome and need to be manually forced into updating.
