The West Shore Career-Technical District and Lakewood City Schools are thrilled to announce that West Shore Career-Tech has received a $5.78 million career-tech expansion grant from the State of Ohio as part of the State’s efforts to improve technical education and training across Ohio. The grant will allow West Shore to build facilities to house programs in welding and micro electronic mechanical systems (MEMS), which is the technology behind computer chips, among other applications.
Congratulations to West Shore Career-Tech Media Art & Design (MAD) seniors Liv Behun, Reagan Bratko, and Wilbur Gwynn on being selected for the Ohio Art Education Association's Ohio Emerging Artist High School Exhibition! One hundred sixty-three out of 260 artworks were selected for this juried show from the eight OAEA regions in the state. The exhibit was recently at the Westerville Public Library and moves to the Ohio Department of Education building in October. Great work, Liv, Regan and Wilbur!
Congratulations to senior West Shore Career-Tech culinary arts student Sophia Kowalski, who earned a silver medal in the national FCCLA Baking and Pastry competition held in Denver July 3.
Congratulations to the 2022-2023 juniors in the West Shore Career-Tech Health Careers program as all 15 passed the state exam and earned the industry credential of State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA)! Well done, Class of 2024 and teacher Jackie Smith!
On April 3, The Rotary Club of Lakewood and Rocky River hosted the 25th annual West Shore Career-Technical District Outstanding Student Awards at their weekly luncheon. Fourteen recipients were honored for their dedication, leadership, and accomplishments in their career-technical programs.
Congratulations to the five Lakewood High and West Shore Career-Tech students whose artwork was selected to be part of the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition in Columbus. The work of Sophie Boyer (two pieces), Corey Johnson, Clare Morrissey, Mia Szymczyk and Lila Wright will hang in the exhibition at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus during April and May.
