On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will cross North America. This event is being called “The Great American Solar Eclipse,” because it is the first time since 1918 a solar eclipse will be visible on a path across the entire continental United States. Planning is underway to ensure our students can experience this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Safety is always a top priority for us. We will take all precautionary measures with both students and staff to make this experience both safe and enjoyable.
Because of these safety concerns, a parent signature on a permission form is required by August 21 in order for students in grades 2-5 to participate using the eclipse glasses. Students in 1st grade and those whose parents either do not complete this form or choose to opt out their child will view televised coverage and complete an alternative activity from inside the school building during the eclipse.
A copy of the permission slip has been mailed home or you can find it here.
