The youth service organization Help To Others (H20) is holding its annual Clothes 4 Kids sale on July 31 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at LHS' East Cafeteria. It also collecting new or gently used school supplies for back-to-school kits it will distribute in the fall until July 25th. 
The LHS Fresh Start orientation program for incoming freshmen will be held Aug. 19 from 6:30 - 9 p.m. and Aug. 20 from 8 a.m. - noon. Click here to register.
 
Kohl's is giving away $500,000 to 20 schools across the nation in honor of the 10th anniverary of its Kohl's Cares program. Each person can vote 5 times for LHS. Voting is done on Facebook and ends Sept. 3 so hurry and get your 5 votes in now!

Cuyahoga County will conduct three vaccination clinics this summer to help accommodate the new state requirement that all students have a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussus) shot prior to entering 7th grade. All other childhood vaccinations will also be available. Click here for more information.
Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, the Lakewood City Schools athletic teams will move from the Northeast Ohio Conference to compete in the West Shore Conference, which is a better geographic match for Lakewood. The move will allow Lakewood to better develop school rivalries with other western suburbs that are in closer proximity to Lakewood Schools than most NOC teams.

The Cleveland Council on World Affairs recently honored Lakewood High's Model UN team as the most outstanding school from its Spring Model UN Conference held in April. It is the third straight semester that the school's Model UN team has won the honor.

The success of the district's growing Adult Basic Literacy and Education program (ABLE), administered by the Recreation and Community Education Department, was on display recently as more than 100 adults of all ages received their G.E.D. at a ceremony late last month.
