Congratulations to the members of the 18th graduating class of Lakewood City Academy! Nine graduates received their diplomas in a commencement ceremony that was part of the June 4 Board of Education meeting at Harding Middle School.
The teachers and staff of LCA along with Assistant Superintendent Roxann Ramsey-Caserio congratulated the seniors and their families for perservering and accomplishing an important milestone that will launch them into their next phase of life.
Each year, the LCA staff comes up with a theme for the ceremony signified by a gift they give to the students. This year's gift was a clock. LCA director Terri Bornino-Elwell and the rest of her staff each took a moment to share a quote about time that offered guidance on how to proceed with the next chapter of their life
Bornino-Elwell told her students: "Graduates, the clocks are really to serve as a reminder of the incredible time we have spent with each of you at LCA and the times that we will cherish." She told them the clocks were also to serve as a reminder of the lessons about time the staff impressed upon the students: "The value of time, how to use time wisely, not to waste time, how to manage time and most importantly, how to be on time."
The graduates received their diplomas from Board President Edward Favre and were congratulated by a reception line of Board of Education members, Superintendent Jeff Patterson, Treasurer Kent Zeman, Bornino-Elwell and LCA Board of Trustees members.
LCA was established by the district a 13 years ago to offer 6th-12th graders an alternative education path to graduation.
Congratulations to all the June 2018 LCA graduates!
