Welcome to the Lakewood City Schools Human Resources web page. The Lakewood City School District actively seeks candidates who wish to work in a progressive, dynamic environment. We are proud of the tradition of diverse cultures, education and opportunities that exist in Lakewood. We attain our success due to the cooperative efforts of involved and compassionate families, community members and staff who share knowledge, facilitate learning and inspire excellence!
The selection and enhancement of certificated and support staff is of the highest priority in Lakewood. Each year, our Department advances and promotes student achievement by actively pursuing and hiring the highest quality staff for the Lakewood City School District. We then work to provide support to teachers, non-certificated staff and administrators in order to provide staff and students with the best possible teaching and learning environment.

BACKGROUND CHECK
All employees working in a public school district must complete both a BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation) and an FBI background check every five years or under application for or renewal of license and permit.
In order to renew a license, educators must complete both a BCI and an FBI background check, along with the other requirements for employment.
On November 14, 2007, House Bill 190 was signed, which required our school district to request BCI and FBI background checks for all new employees hired on, or after, November 19. This means all employees seeking to renew their licenses or permits must now be FBI fingerprinted as well. And, all employees will have to be fingerprinted every five years.
