GRANT ELEMENTARY

8:30-11:00 am or 12:30-3:00 pm, Monday through Thursday

Teacher: Cheryl Smolen
Educational Aide: Jacqueline Paskert

Special Needs Classroom

Cheryl Smolen has been teaching for over 20 years.  She has a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in Special Education and a Master's degree from Cleveland State in Early Childhood Special Education. Cheryl is married and has two sons.   

 

HORACE MANN ELEMENTARY

8:30-11:00 am or 12:30-3:00 pm, Monday through Friday

Teacher: Jonathan Davis 

Jonathan Davis graduated from Malone University with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. He is a member of the Ohio Army National Guard.

Early Childhood Intervention Specialist: Michelle Zahursky

Michelle Zahursky is currently in her 19th year as an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist for the Lakewood City Schools. She has a Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a Master's degree is Early Intervention.

Educational Aide: Tammy Viserta

 

HARRISON ELEMENTARY

8:30-11:00 am or 12:30-3:00 pm, Monday through Friday

Universal PreKindergarten (UPK) site. Partners with Cuyahoga County Office of Early Childhood

Teacher: Gregory Stormer
Greg Stormer holds a  Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Baldwin Wallace in 2013. He is a husband and father that loves animals and art.  

Early Childhood Intervention Specialist: Sarah Holokai

Sarah Holokai has a Bachelor's degree from Kent State University in Deaf Education. She also holds two Master's degree, one from Cleveland State University in Curriculum and Instruction for Special Education and the second from Wright State University in Advanced Curriculum and Instruction and Professional Development. Sarah has been teaching 15 years.

LINCOLN ELEMENTARY

8:30 am-2:30 pm, Monday through Thursday

Special Needs Classroom

Early Childhood Intervention Specialist: Kristin Kalinowski

Kristin Kalinowski received her Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Special Education at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.  She also holds an Master's in Education that she earned while obtaining her Early Childhood Intervention Specialist license. She has been working with young children with autism in various settings using different methods such as ABA, Floortime, TEACCH, etc. since 1999. She is a proud Lakewood resident.Her two children attend Lakewood City Schools.

ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY

8:30-11:00 am or 12:30-3:00, Monday through Thursday

General Education Program for 3 Year Olds

Teacher: Susan Michels has been an early childhood educator for 34 years,  20 years in the Lakewood City Schools Early Childhood Program. Supervision within private and public preschool programs and teaching young children has been her professional focus.

HAYES ELEMENTARY

8:30-11:00 am or 12:30-3:00 pm, Monday through Friday

Teacher: Rebecca Byndas

Rebecca Byndas received her Bachelor's of Early Childhood Education from Ohio University. Along with teaching, she enjoys coaching girls soccer and basketball at the high school level.  

Early Childhood Intervention Specialist: Chris Porochonski

Chris Porochonski has a Master's degree from Ashland University in teaching children with special needs. She loves the outdoors, and likes to swim, kayak and walk her dog in the park.

 

EMERSON ELEMENTARY

8:30-11:00 am & 12:30-3:00 pm, Monday through Friday

Teacher: Emily Juran

Emily Juran has been the Lakewood general education preschool teacher for three years. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of Mount Union. She also received a Reading Endorsement and looks forward to obtaining her Master's degree in the future. She likes to spend time with friends and family exploring Cleveland and attending sporting events and concerts.

Early Childhood Intervention Sepcialist:Jen DeJohn

Jen DeJohn has a Bachelor's degree in Speech & Hearing Science from The Ohio State University and a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Cleveland State. She also holds a license to teach Early Childhood Special Education.  She has  taught 2nd & 3rd grades in addition to preschool. In her spare time, she loves to travel, read, go to the theater and spend time with family.
